Session & Tracks

Track 1: Nanoscience and Technology

Nanoscience and technology are a discipline of science that explores and tries to manipulate matter at the atomic, molecular, and supramolecular levels (the nanometer scale). Quantum mechanical and surface boundary effects become relevant at such length scales, giving features on materials that aren't visible at larger, macroscopic length scales.

Track 2: Nanomaterials, biomaterials and synthesis

biomaterial is a nonviable material that is utilized in a medical device and is meant to interact with biological systems. Tissue engineering, cancer therapy, medication and gene delivery, medical imaging, and many more biomedical applications use high-surface area, nano-sized (1-100 nm) biomaterial particles. A nano-biomaterial consists of a nanoparticle in its center, which is surrounded by monolayers of silica, which act as inert materials.

Track 3: Applications of Nanotechnology in Covid-19

The use of nanotechnology in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of COVID-19 has enormous potential. Several nano-based formulations have been demonstrated to increase antiviral medication target delivery and therapeutic efficacy. A new generation of vaccines based on various types of nanomaterials, with better antigen stability, target delivery, and controlled-release, is another promising alternative. The development of technologies for speedy, accurate, and sensitive diagnosis, the manufacturing of effective disinfectants, the delivery of mRNA vaccines into human cells, and the delivery of antiviral medicines into the body are all nanotechnology-based solutions for COVID-19 disease management.

Track 4: Nanobiotechnology and Nanosafety

This discipline aids in bridging the gap between scientific study and a variety of nanotechnology fields. Nanobiology improves ideas by including nanoscale, nanodevices, and nanoparticle phenomena that occur within the nanotech study. The term “nanosafety” refers to all of the issues surrounding nanotechnology's protection.

Track 6: Nanochemistry and Wet Nanotechnology

Nanochemistry is a rapidly growing discipline of chemistry, particularly solid-state chemistry that focuses on the research and production of usable materials with manometer-scale dimensions (1–100 nm). Wet nanotechnology necessitates the presence of water in the process. Chemists and biologists are also involved in the process, which entails bringing together individual molecules to reach larger scales.

Track 8: Nanomedicine and Nano Sensors

The increasing state of research in nanomedicine has aided in the reformulation of existing drugs and the invention of new ones. Nanotechnology in medicine causes changes in toxicity, solubility, and bioavailability profiles. Nanosensors are chemical or mechanical sensors that can be used to detect chemical species and nanoparticles on the nanoscale, and monitor physical characteristics such as temperature.

Market Analysis

Germany features a social free enterprise that's considered the fifth largest within the world following the German unification in 1990. Germany's monetary status has recuperated from the downturn stage somewhere in the range of 2008 and 2009 by tolerating fabricating requests and fares from outside the Eurozone. GDP for the country Germany for the date marked on 2011 was $3.139 trillion. About 71% of the absolute GDP is contributed by the assistance area, 28% by the modern area and 1% by the horticultural area.

The research and development efforts in the science sector play a significant role in Germany’s economy. The development of new technologies like nanotechnology has great economic potential and Germany has a great number of companies that focus on the development, application and distribution of nanotech-based products.

Federal funding for nanotechnology is more than 500 million Euros per annum when the Lander (state) level funding is included, ranking Germany fifth behind the USA, Russia, China and Japan. Federal funding was around 400 million Euros in 2011, and 440 million Euros in 2010. In terms of scientific publications, Germany also ranks fourth behind the USA, China and Japan. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development  (OECD) ranks Germany third behind the USA and Japan in nanotechnology patenting. The Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF) is the main driver and the main source of public funding for nanotechnology, and has been for over a decade.  Research organizations act as project management agencies for nanotech activities funded by the ministries.

The main research bodies in Germany for basic nanotech research are the institutes of the Max-Planck-Society (focus is on nanomaterials, supramolecular systems or characterization methods, the Helmholtz Association (integration of nano and micro systems as well as operating national initiatives in nanotechnology), Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (industrially orientated nanomaterials) and the Leibniz Association (nanomaterials, surfaces and opto- and nanoelectronic properties), coupled with extensive activities at all German Universities. As well as the funding these institutions receive from federal and state budgets they also contribute approximately 90 million euros of their own funds to nanotechnology R&D.

The Innovation Alliance Carbon Nanotubes is a coordination initiative between 90 research and industrial partners with a budget of 90 million Euros between 2008-2014. BMBF’s WINGS technology program (Materials Innovation for Industry and Society) focuses on materials science. It has two specific initiatives for nanomaterials, both of which are coordinated by VDI, NanoMatFutur (2011-2013) and NanoMatTextil (2011-2013).
